Dave and Miguel inspect the roof at 208 Democracy Street before yesterday's downpour proves that their diagnosis of its problem was correct. Lessons: Check builders' credentials even more carefully than we did; use lead flashing despite contrary advice; keep buckets handy and don't demolish outside stairs or balconies without a good deal of forethought. All of these problems were a result of misguided alterations of the previous British 'builder'. This will all be sorted and we're relieved the welcome rain revealed the problems that need sorting. Oh and make sure external doors have lintels!
